How to Compare Artificial Turf Quotes in Tampa Bay

A practical checklist for comparing Tampa Bay turf proposals: measured area, site preparation, drainage, materials, exclusions, warranty, and schedule.

Two turf quotes can show the same square footage and still describe different projects. One may include the removal, base preparation, drainage work, edging, and finishing your yard needs. Another may price the surface and leave important work for a later add-on. The lowest number is useful only when you know what it buys.

Use this checklist when comparing bids for a Tampa Bay backyard, pet area, or putting green.

Start with the same measured area

Ask each installer to show the measured square footage and mark the boundaries on a sketch or site photo. Confirm whether the price includes side yards, narrow strips, tree wells, and transitions to pavers or patios. A difference in measured area may explain a difference in price before you compare materials or labor.

If you change the design while collecting bids, ask for each revision in writing. Otherwise, you may compare the first version of one plan with the expanded version of another.

Ask what happens below the turf

Ask each contractor to describe the existing-surface removal, grading, base material, compaction, and planned drainage path for your property. A Tampa yard that already holds water needs a site-specific answer. “Drainage included” does not explain where water will go after a heavy rain.

For a pet area, ask how the base, turf backing, and cleaning plan work together. For a putting green, ask how the installer will shape the base and assess the finished surface. The right questions depend on how you plan to use the space.

Compare the actual turf and finishing details

Request the name of the proposed turf product or blend, a physical sample, and the current product documentation for the option in each quote. Ask what infill is included, how seams and edges will be finished, and what will happen where turf meets a pool deck, driveway, planting bed, or paver area. “Premium turf” does not identify the material to be installed.

If the quotes specify different products, compare them as different designs rather than treating price per square foot as the only difference. Review our blade and blend lineup and ask us to explain which options fit your yard.

Separate included work from optional work

Ask for a written list of what is included and what is priced separately. EverBlade’s turf installation price covers base preparation, materials, and labor. Work outside the turf scope—such as fire pits, French drains, irrigation changes, special excavation, or other requested additions—is itemized separately in the agreement. A clear quote should let you tell whether those items are necessary, optional, or not yet evaluated.

EverBlade’s residential turf starts at $8.50 per square foot installed, with a $3,500 project minimum. A typical Tampa-area backyard project is $5,000–$12,000, depending on size and blade selection. These figures are context, not a quote for your property. The pricing page explains the scope; a site visit sets the actual design and price.

Get the warranty and schedule in writing

Ask who provides the product warranty, what the installation or labor warranty covers, whether either transfers, and what maintenance the terms require. Request the current written documents rather than relying on a verbal summary. Ask who will be responsible for the work on site and how the crew will handle access, debris removal, and the final walk-through.

Confirm the expected start window, estimated on-site duration, and what could change either one. If HOA review or another approval is needed for your property, ask who prepares the drawings and whether installation waits for approval.

Five questions to take to every installer

  1. What exact area and design are you pricing?
  2. What removal, base, grading, and drainage work is included?
  3. Which turf, infill, seams, and edge details will be installed?
  4. What is excluded or subject to a separate line item?
  5. What do the written warranty, schedule, and final walk-through include?

When all five answers are on paper, the bids become easier to compare. For a site-specific plan in Tampa Bay, request a free Florida consultation or call (727) 513-8063.
