Artificial Turf Installation in St. George, Utah

St. George's own code caps natural lawn at 8 percent of the lot and defines artificial turf as a lawn substitute in writing. Built for Entrada's red-rock lots and Desert Color's master-planned HOA alike. Starting at $8.50 per square foot installed.

Built for St. George

Why St. George Is Different From the Rest of Utah

Washington County's desert climate and water math produced a landscape code unlike anywhere else we work in the state.

01

8 Percent Lawn Cap, By Code

St. George limits natural lawn to 8 percent of a residential lot, capped at 1,500 square feet regardless of lot size, and bans it entirely in park strips, narrow beds under 8 feet wide, and slopes steeper than 15 percent. Most of a St. George yard is not going to be grass, by design.

02

Turf Named in the Code Itself

St. George's own definitions section describes artificial turf as synthetic grass used "in lieu of lawns." That is about as direct an acknowledgment as a Utah city code gets that turf is the intended substitute for the lawn area it restricts.

03

Red Rock and Slope Change the Build

Lots near Snow Canyon and the black lava fields around Entrada often carry real grade and drainage challenges that a flat valley lot in West Jordan never sees. We plan retention and cross-drainage into the base at your site visit.

Two Things We Tell You Upfront

Weeds along edges and window reflection are the two issues turf owners ask about most. Both are manageable when you know about them going in, so we walk through how to handle each during your consultation rather than after.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and this is worth knowing before you plan a yard. St. George's landscape code caps total lawn area at 8 percent of a residential lot, with a maximum of 1,500 square feet even on larger lots. Lawn is also prohibited outright in park strips, in any landscape area narrower than 8 feet, and on slopes steeper than 15 percent. Most of a St. George yard has to be something other than grass by code.

Yes, explicitly. St. George's own municipal code defines artificial turf as synthetic grass "used for sport fields, landscaping, or in lieu of lawns." The code itself contemplates turf as the substitute for the natural lawn area it restricts elsewhere, which is a more direct green light than most Utah cities give in writing.

Slope and drainage are exactly what change from a flat valley lot. Steep terrain near Snow Canyon or the black lava fields around Entrada needs engineered retention cut into the base before installation, the same grading work we do for view lots in Draper. We plan that at your site visit, not after the crew shows up.

Residential turf starts at $8.50 per square foot installed, and we carry blades across six price tiers so there is an option for a pet run, a front yard, an entertaining space, a play area or a sport surface.
